I have one of these children - remarkable to see her so well described - so different from us! Fortunately mine is working in work she loves but all the rest are big ticks.
It is only in the last few years that I have become really cognizant of just how blessed I and the other members of my generation were to have had the education we did. Back in those days, the accent was not on WHAT to think (as it is now), but HOW to think. Our teachers then were not under the control of or restricted by a curriculum department hell bent on removing anything of actual value from the schools teachings. If we screwed up, we got the cane - and we learned that we had crossed a line and it was too painful to risk doing again.
If it wasn't for this kind of upbringing, I daresay I would not have survived this world. I am eternally grateful - blessed to have received it.
This picture came out in OMNI magazine along with an article expressing concern at how the teenagers of the 90's were becoming different. Every time I look at it, I think to myself how little did we know...
